Late errors foil Hilldale's upset bid against Jenks
OWASSO Hilldale had swooshed one opponent and was on the verge of an upset of the No. 7 team in the Class 6A rankings at the Owasso Nike/Pro 9 Tournament on Tuesday.
The Hornets defeated Tulsa Edison 10 1 and were tied 1 1 with Jenks going into the top of the seventh inning nike downshifter 6 when pitcher Jacob Stinson gave up five unearned runs thanks to four errors.
"It all comes down to that one inning. We had a pretty good day, but that last inning leaves a bad taste in your mouth," Hilldale coach Darren Riddle said.
"We let one get away. I think the kids and our coaches think so. But you've got to have a short memory as you can't be too disappointed nike irons over a loss. We've got to get hooked up and be ready for (Wednesday)."
Stinson struck out six batters in the loss. Hilldale tied the game at 1 when Dalton Cunningham singled home Colby Mullens in the nike k leather pack Hornets' half of the first.
Mullens singled and moved to second on a walk to Jarrard Poteete before scoring. The Hornets (14 4) got their other run in the seventh when Seth Boling came home on a groundout after doubling to reach base.
Cunningham struck out five batters and scattered three hits in the six inning complete game victory against Edison. He helped his own cause with a two run home run. Bill Muse had a solo home run. Hunter Harrison had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.
